The CNY Fiber Arts Festival has completed plans for a total of nine workshops in 2026, including a few old favorites and several new offerings. A schedule with class descriptions is below, and the form for registration will be released for use as soon as all the information is available.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6th
Begin to Spin! Treading, Drafting, Plying

10:30 am – 1:30 pm Bldg 1 Instructor: Marcia Weinert
Learn to make your own unique handspun yarn on a spinning wheel! We’ll play with several types of prepared wool while we discuss wheel maintenance, drafting, treadling, plying and finishing techniques to make a balanced yarn. Bring your own wheel or use one of ours. No previous experience required. Warning! Spinning can be addictive!
Up to 7 teen and adult students accepted. Walk-ins will be accepted if openings remain.
Students should bring a spinning wheel in good working order, if possible. Instructor will provide handouts, all fiber, wheels for students who need them, and use of instructor’s tools in class.
Materials fee: $10 for fibers, handouts, and use of instructor’s tools in class (included in class fee)
NOTE: WHEELS CAN BE BORROWED FROM THE INSTRUCTOR for an additional $10 rental fee, to be paid onsite directly to the instructor.
Class and materials fee: $65 total.
SATURDAY, JUNE 6th
Cookie Cutter Needle Felting

10:30 am – 11:30 am Bldg 2 Instructor: Jill Reed
In this workshop, students will create two unique pieces to make a pin or ornament. The class is designed for beginners and will present the technique of felting using a needle and cookie cutter. Children five and older may participate if with an adult. Materials will be provided.
Adults and children five and older are welcome.
Class fee: $25

Rug Hooking using Fiber and Wool Strips

12:00 pm – 4:00 pm Bldg 2 Instructor: Jill Reed
In this class, you’ll learn rug hooking with wool strips on cloth backing, creating a 6″ x 6″ rug mat. The session covers basic and advanced rug hooking techniques, tips for working with wool strips, and an overview of the craft’s rich history. Participants will leave with their completed 6 x 6 inch rug mat and the skills to continue rug hooking on their own. All supplies are included.
Open to 8 adults. A minimum of 4 participants is required to hold the class.
Class fee: $130, which includes all materials

Needle-felt a Painting – a 2D Landscape

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Bldg 1 Instructor: Jennifer McCarthy
Join artist Jennifer McCarthy, owner of The Felted Bee, for a beginner-friendly workshop to learn the art of needle felting. This relaxing & fun beginner session covers essential techniques and guides you through creating your own needle-felted 2D spring landscape work of art.
Needle felting involves using a specialized barbed needle to compress and shape wool into various forms. All materials and tools are included in the workshop.
Grab a friend and join us for this creative experience. No prior knowledge or skill is required. Just bring your sense of adventure and humor as we get to poking some wool!
The Felted Bee will bring all tools, materials and fiber you need to create your work of art. Your supply kit (that you will bring home) will include needles, foam worksurface, wool fibers, wool fabric, tutorial worksheet & photographic example. Just show up ready to have fun!
Open to students aged 13 and up. (We will be using sharp barbed needles!) Walk-ins accepted up to the start of class.
Class fee: $65, including all materials.

Drop Spindle

A quick and easy introduction to the addictive world of spinning using an essential tool. Have you always wanted to try spinning your yarn? Well, now is your chance. This fun and easy workshop will teach you the basics of turning fiber into yarn. You don’t need any experience at all. All are willing to participate.
Open to all. Spindle, instructions and some fiber will be provided. Walk-ins are welcome.

Needle Felt a Spring Gnome

12:00 pm – 1:45pm Bldg 2 Instructor: Rebecca Breese
Join us for a whimsical needle felting workshop and create your very own garden gnome!
Celebrate the arrival of warmer weather by crafting a fun and festive gnome to brighten your home or garden. No experience is necessary, as this workshop is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike. Each participant will design and decorate their own unique gnome, choosing colors and details to make it truly one-of-a-kind. All materials and guidance will be provided. Come get creative and welcome the season with a handmade touch!
Open to adults and children; no prior experience needed. Instructor will provide all fiber, felting mats, and needles.

Rigid Heddle Cowl

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Bldg 1 Instructor: Cecilia Tkaczyk
We will weave a quick project on the rigid heddle loom. Looms will be pre-warped with wool yarn. You will spend time weaving the cowl and finishing it. We also demonstrate how to warp a project. Looms and all materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary.
Up to 6 students will be accepted; adults only.
