The festival committee is planning for a 2021 CNY Fiber Arts Festival that will be adjusted to meet safety requirements but that will still provide a stimulating experience for visitors.
Although we cannot hold lectures or workshops this year, we are already considering some headliners for next year. Sadly, we also cannot provide a Children's Tent this year, but fiber animals will be ready to greet visitors. Jim Baldwin will return with his shearing demonstrations and individual vendors will offer demonstrations of weaving, needle-felting, and spinning. We regret that we are unable to present a demonstration of sheepdog herding or our Wheel Corral.
We will have a variety of sheep, alpacas, goats, and Angora rabbits on display, and visitors will be able to select raw fleeces at the Fleece Sale.
Fiber artists and farmers will present a variety of products for sale, including handspun and hand-dyed yarn, roving, hand-dyed fabrics, and finished products ranging from decorative art works to unique articles of clothing. Handmade wooden fiber tools, pottery, antique tools, and related farm products will also be available.
We are taking a year off to reorganize the Viv Fulton Memorial Award. This competition, for the finest example of a handwoven product from natural fibers, will return in 2022.
Please be assured that we are creating the safest possible environment for this year's festival. Sides will be removed from tents to facilitate ventilation, participants will wear masks, booths will be spaced out, and extra hand-washing stations and sanitizer will be available. All participants and attendees will be screened for COVID symptoms.
