In 2023, the Children's Tent will return with crafts and the Explorer Pass. The Fleece Sale will offer high-quality fleeces on display from a variety of breeds and species. The Viv Fulton Memorial Weaving Competition, for the finest examples of handwoven products from natural fibers will be back. Guilds and vendors will offer demonstrations of spinning, weaving, and felting, and a "story loom" will be available for visitor participation. JIm Baldwin will demonstrate sheep-shearing.
Fiber artists and farmers will display animals and present a variety of products for sale, including handspun and hand-dyed yarn, roving, hand-dyed fabrics, and finished products ranging from decorative artworks to unique articles of clothing. Handmade wooden fiber tools, pottery, and related farm products will also be available.
A full slate of workshops and lectures will be offered. Workshops, which require registration, will focus on spinning and felting. By popular demand, both Rabbit Goody and Ken Wolf will return to give lectures on historical textiles and developing a fiber flock, respectively, and Mary Jeanne Packer will explain how to select the right fiber for your project.
On Sunday, the CNY Fiber Arts Festival will be hosting the New York State Fiber Conference from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You can read about the conference sessions and panel discussions and learn how to register for the conference here.
