Viv Fulton was a prime mover behind the CNY Fiber Arts Festival from its earliest days in Bouckville. She was totally committed to its mission and handled dozens of thankless tasks on the festival committee. We miss her every day!
In her memory, we have established a memorial award. As Viv was a talented weaver, always eager to try new techniques and to share her knowledge, the annual award will be given to the finest sample of hand-weaving from natural fibers.
At the 2019 festival, Joyce Robards served as the judge, and she reported that it was challenging to select winners among the high-quality handwoven items that were submitted, which ranged from rugs and chair pads to scarves and shawls and wall hangings. The blue ribbon and cash award ultimately went to a shawl woven by Mary Anne Stanton.
The competition will be held again in 2020. Why not start thinking now about a new handwoven creation?
