This talk is for anyone interested in starting a small flock of sheep and for those already with sheep who want to improve their flock. Ken will discuss everything from purchasing wool sheep; feeding and pasturing; shearing and fleece preparation; and marketing wool. Attendees can bring fleeces they have raised themselves or those purchased for discussion.
Sunday, June 11th 11:00 -12:30
Rabbit Goody of Thistle Hill Weavers will present “Weaving in Rural New York 1780-1870”.
This will be a hands-on study of everyday fabrics produced in farm homes and will include a short lecture and then an examination of textiles from Rabbit’s historical collection. These will include toweling, tablecloths, feed sacks, napkins and other everyday textiles. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own textiles for all of us to examine.
